The tour to Santiago Atitlan is by private boat. You will get a great introduction to the living Maya culture, the geology, and some history of the area. You'll visit the 16th century church, pass by several unexcavated ancient Maya ruins, and have ample opportunity to shop for the legendary art and handicrafts produced by the Tzutinil Maya.You'll have time to enjoy lunch in the best restaurant in town (with an incredible view), before returning to Panajachel in the early afternoon.
The tour starts around 9AM, every day, in Panajachel, and is limited to 10 people. It includes a private boat and tuk-tuks in Santiago, and a guide. Lunch is not included.
The Chichicastenango tour is by private shuttle. You'll visit the 800 year old Maya market where craftsmen from all over the highlands gather every Thursday and Sunday. You'll visit the Church of Santo Tomas, where the Popul Vuh (Maya bible) was found in 1702. With ample time for lunch and shopping, you be back in Panajachel by early afternoon.
