Ixchel Women, Panajachel, Guatemala
Mayans from all over the highlands come to Panajachel to sell things. These ladies are from the Ixchel triangle, near Nebaj, an area decimated during the bloody civil war. Maybe thats why one rarely sees the male version of this traje.
The geometric design of their huipiles is very distinctive, and the craftsmanship extrordinary. I love the pom-poms woven into their hair.
